We had an appointment with the paediatric dietician today and there is good news. Max is back on the growth chart! He's 21.8 lbs and 31.3 inches tall. He's still at the bottom of the growth chart but at least he's on it.
The dietician was great. She knew about delayed allergic reactions and really knew her stuff. She also works with a gastroenterologist 3 days a week so she sees a wide variety of GI problems. What she was able to confirm for us was that max has a type of intestinal colitis when fed certain foods: these being primarily dairy & soy and its derivatives. He is to avoid these foods until at least 2 years old.
We were concerned about his calcium intake and she had lots of information on that. She seemed confidant that he was getting enough through the solid foods and the potato milk but gave us ways to get more calcium into him. Interesting enough, she had never seen potato milk so she kept the box we brought as a sample for others.
All in all it was a very good day as it confirmed what we had concluded with the help of our naturopath and with our own instincts. Yeah Max!
